Check-in and body marking for all open water participants is mandatory and will occur at the Teen Center at the YMCA (The swimming pool venue) on Wednesday, June 12, between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Timing chips and swim caps will be distributed at this time.

The age of the competitor as of 31 December 2013.
18–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70–74, 75–79, 80–84, 85–89, 90–94 and five-year age increments as high as necessary.
Race organizers, in consultation with the referee and subject to advice from FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee, are to designate, in advance, the cut-off time for each Masters race. As a rough guide, a time of 30 minutes per kilometer could apply.
Caps and Wetsuits
It shall be compulsory for all swimmers to wear highly visible colored numbered swim caps, which will be provided. Wetsuits are not permitted.
The public beach is open for training daily. However, the course buoys will not be placed on the course until race day.
3 km and 1 km. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to reduce the length of the swim or cancel the swim, if adverse conditions should prevail.
Siesta Key Beach, Sarasota: Average water temperature 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius). The Gulf of Mexico is usually calm water.
Swimmers who cannot complete the 3 km distance in 90 minutes (1-1/2 hours) are advised not to enter. Swimmers still on the course after this time will be stopped and will not be allowed to complete the event.
The pre-race meeting will be held on Siesta Key Beach at the start/finish arch June 13, 2013, approximately 30 minutes before the start.
All the athletes must be in the marshaling area 30 minutes before his/her allowed wave. A course map will be clearly visible in the area for all participants. The course map is available for review online as well.
Full medical provision and appropriate safety crafts (kayaks, paddle boards, jet skis and boats) will be provided during and at the end of competition.
Showers and restroom facilities will be available. The showers are open, public showers and are located on the pavilion boardwalk, and north and south ends of the beach. The restrooms are located in the pavilion.
Beverages and food will be provided at post-race award ceremony.
Medals will be awarded 1-10 in each age group.
