The 2013 Pan-American Masters Championship ended on Thursday, June 13, with the 1K and 3K open water swims, held at beautiful Siesta Key Beach. Our community is so grateful to all the friendly athletes who came from all over the world. You are warm, spirited, and truly embody all that is good in Masters swimming. The event organizers are also very grateful for all the volunteers who stepped up to welcome our guests and make this an event to remember. Well done everyone, and many, many thanks to all.
Don’t miss this great video recap of the event.
Check-in and body marking for all open water participants is mandatory and will occur at the Teen Center at the YMCA (The swimming pool venue) on Wednesday, June 12, between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Timing chips and swim caps will be distributed at this time.
***The pool is now open and the competition has resumed*** 1:40 p.m.
We are experiencing a brief delay due to lightning, however the radar shows that the storm cell is very small and the delay should not be extended. We will keep you updated here.
Today, June 6, we are experiencing a rain delay until 1. p.m. The warm-up pool will re-open at 1 p.m. and the competition will resume at 1:30 p.m.
The results for swimming competition are now available under the main Swimming navigation tab.
Tropical Storm Andrea is out in the Gulf of Mexico. However, at this time, the Pan American Masters Championship will proceed tomorrow as planned. Please bring ponchos and rain jackets as we do expect some wind and rain.
We will be monitoring the storm throughout the night and early morning hours to assess any risk to the safety of the athletes, spectators, and event staff. We will notify you accordingly, via this email, if there are any changes to the schedule of events.
Thank you and please travel safely.
The Swimming Timeline has been released and it can be found on the Schedule page, under the Swimming tab in the main navigation bar.
This timeline is only a guide for swimmers in determining the approximate start of all events. We may run ahead of or behind the estimate. It is the responsibility of all swimmers to report to the marshaling area well before their events.
Important pre-event email updates, presented in English and Spanish, are now being archived on the Email Updates page under the main Championship tab.
A full-color program book has been created specifically for Pan-Am athletes, courtesy of Sarasota Magazine. The Official Program Guide has useful information about the schedule of events, frequently asked questions, our local area attractions, restaurants, and the host organizations. Please review the magazine and learn about all that Sarasota has to offer. Hard copies of the guide will be provided at Registration.
